Sitting hours and hours in front of your computer isn’t really healthy – especially if you tend to weird sitting positions. Of course this isn’t a big secret or something new, but it’s important to remember gamers about long-term consequences of excessive gaming. Are you on the road to a professional gamer? Keep yourself in good shape and strengthen your concentration with some simple tips!
General information
This article is not about diets or tips how to lose weight. We want to give you some simple tips how to keep your mind and body fit and strengthen your physical health, self-confidence and concentration. Hand injuries, for example, are a serious problem for gamers. The well known League of Legends player “Hai” from cloud9 recently stopped his career due to health issues.
My wrist injury is something that I simply cannot ignore. It limits my ability to play as much as I need to and my ability to improve.

Dr. Levi Harrison (Orthopedic surgeon in Los Angeles) released some interesting YouTube-Videos with useful hand and wrist exercises for gamers. He also published an article to show you some tips for a proper keyboard placement. It won’t be easy for you to change your sitting position and your old habits, but you should at least think about your gaming posture and the long-term consequences. Try to make slight changes to your sitting position and compensate your unhealthy gaming sessions with sports like running or bicycling.

Running – The key to refresh your mind
Running isn’t just good for your body, it also helps you to refresh your mind and work off stress. Movement generates hapiness and the sunlight gives you Vitamin D, which is important for a healthy immune system. Running also improves your mental endurance and the ability to concentrate. Find a proper balance between gaming and sport and try to do exercises at least 2 times a week. Choose specific days where you go out for a jog to generate a regularity and a sense of duty.
Rethink your food and drink
Are you tired? Drink coffee instead of Red Bull. Coffee has three times more caffeine in 100ml. Are you thirsty? Drink pure water instead of Cola or any other sweet stuff. Cola has a very negative effect after 60 minutes; it makes you lazy and sluggish due to a massive drop of your blood sugar level. Do you have cravings? Switch over to fruits instead of sweets. Eat an apple, a banana or a kiwi – they are also very sweet and have much less calories. In general: eat less junk food – it makes you slow and lazy.
Get your sleep schedule back in sync
Gamers often tend to play into the morning hours and oversleep the half day. Try to find a good rhythm and wake up by no later than 10am. Use the day! Have a good breakfast, do some sports, listen to music and distract yourself from the upcoming training hours with your team.
